About NLP

Imagine if humans had never thought to update our maps of the world. How differently might we function? How would that limit us?

Now consider that humans, like the world, have maps — our own internal map. The paths we create on our map shape our experience of the world. They frame the context that lets us know what is possible, or not, for ourselves.

While our maps change as we grow older, some of the pathways on them do not. Many of the earliest pathways we forge represent the beliefs we hold about ourself, the world, and our place in it. These are the beliefs that create and stabilize the patterns in our lives.

Some of the “belief pathways” become so engrained they are like deep ruts in a dirt road. Over time the ruts may get paved over, but they remain beneath the surface, unseen and out of conscious awareness. And the truth is, they still guide our choices.

With NLP, the ruts are uncovered. Once seen, the beliefs, patterns, loyalties and family soul obligations that make up the ruts can be altered. You get to re-choose.

Neuro linguistic programming NLP, is, at the core of it, the study of human behavior — how people do what they do. It is a powerfully effective and gentle set of tools used to get to the heart of what’s bothering you quickly. It uncovers the beliefs that keep you stuck in life and offers you new resources to reach your goals.

Neuro: We humans process the information that describes our experience through the brain and neural pathways via the five senses — visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory.

Linguistic: When the content of the information moves across the neural pathways, we communicate our experience verbally and nonverbally. We do this using pictures, sound/words, feelings, smell and taste.

Programming: All that content is processed through our individual map. We humans then make meaning of it all using our unique set of filters, which are based on our belief pathways.

We don’t see the world as it is, we see the world as we are. —Anaïs Nin
