March/April, 2008 Newsletter
Volume 3, No. 1

Welcome
Hello and Happy Spring to everyone! Spring is my favorite time of year. Mother Nature begins waking from hibernation and the days start getting longer, brighter and warmer.

I especially enjoy discovering each day what new green leaves have burst from the ground or sprouted on trees and bushes. This “waking up” is one of nature’s patterns. Like nature, our lives follow certain rhythms and patterns as well. And that is what we’ll be looking at in this newsletter.

All Good Wishes to You,

The Patterns We Live By
Jane found herself wondering, not for the first time that day, how it was that she could feel so alone so much of the time?

Her husband and friends flanked her at the cozy restaurant table. She laughed and ate and sipped wine, participated in the dinner conversation but still she was aware of a hollowness inside that could not be breached. She felt isolated.

It began on the commute to work that morning. The bus was crowded, yet the seat beside her remained unoccupied. She knew she should feel grateful to have the space, but instead she wondered if she was doing something to make people steer clear. She was feeling the residual of that experience when she entered the break room at work.

A group of coworkers chatted amiably over cups of coffee. They said hi to her and smiled, and she returned in kind, but when they left as a laughing group, her misery index climbed a few more clicks.

The day was sprinkled with innocuous events like that and the hollow, disconnected feeling grew.

By the time she and her husband returned home from dinner, she had picked a fight with him for not paying enough attention to her and both were angry and hurt.

She slept on the couch and cried herself to sleep. Not even the dog could console her.

Spring Special

Three, two-hour sessions for the price of two if scheduled before April 30.

This is an example of an isomorphic pattern playing out in someone’s life. Jane’s system was triggered by an event on the bus that set into motion an unconscious belief that she needed to not connect with people. By the end of the day, Jane’s system made sure she was alone.

We all have isomorphic patterns in our lives — where events, and our reactions to them, seem to spiral out of control. The situations often “feel” very familiar, and in a way they are. While the actors and scenery may change, they stem from much earlier experiences, and the beliefs we form from them. These isomorphic patterns send ripples that generate out into our adulthood.

The good news is, the beliefs behind the unconscious patterns can be revised. The NLP toolbox is rife with powerful and elegant ways of working with, and revising, the beliefs that generate the patterns we live by.

If there is some part of your life that isn’t working the way you would like it to, I would love to work with you to give you new options and choices. Call 206-417-4541 or email info@karapomeroynlp.com to make an appointment.

Face Reading News
I attended the first part of the Face Reading Practitioner training in early January. Wow! What a full five days that was! So much fascinating information! Starting with this newsletter, I’ll share some very basic Five Element information.

Five Elements Abbreviated: Wood
Wood is the goal-oriented, visionary, “Do” energy of the Five Elements. Spring is the season it represents, which makes sense when you think about the seeds, plants and bulbs that have been hibernating breaking through the ground to feel the not-quite-yet-warm sun. That takes real drive and energy to do. Wood has great flexibility too. Think about trees swaying in the wind and not falling over (usually).

Wood is about goals and getting things done. The emotion associated with Wood is anger and the color is green. The taste is sour.

The features on the face that correspond to the Wood element are the eyebrows, brow bone, jaw and temple. The organs are the liver and gallbladder.

As part of the face reading practitioner training, I need to do some practice face reading sessions. Please let me know if you, or someone you know, is interested. It will be a fun hour or so, and only $20! 206-417-4541 or info@karapomeroynlp.com

Quote of the Month
...I would like to beg you dear Sir, as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.

—Rainer Maria Rilke, 1903, in Letters to a Young Poet
