February/March 2007 newsletter Welcome Spring can be a good time for all kinds of cleaning up - outside and internally as well. The article this month is about Family Constellations, a tool that can clear out the old energy patterns that we sometimes are not even aware of carrying. Enjoy the new growth, wherever it’s taking place! All Good Wishes, Family Constellations: There’s “Magic” in the Field Family Constellations are an elegant and useful way of showing, and working with, the energetic and emotional entanglements that block the flow of love within a family soul. The subtle, and often not-so-subtle energies, at work during a Family Constellation create movement for change. The best way to describe what happens during a Family Constellation is this: when the intention for healing and the power of love combine, they create a field of possibility for change. It then becomes possible to tap into the energy of the client’s family soul — something that exists outside of time and space. As a Constellation unfolds, where the flow of love has become blocked presents itself. Volunteers representing members of the client’s family use simple dialogue and movement to get the energy flowing again so healing can begin. During Family Constellations, I’ve seen people alternately laugh and cry as they witness the dynamics of their family unfold before them. As a representative, I’ve felt joy, physical and emotional pain, intense love and sorrow. I’ve also experienced a kind of internal “Ah...now I understand,” watching my own Family Constellations unfold and then recognizing the profound shifts take place in my life as a result of the work. This is the “magic” of Family Constellations. What makes the magic possible is difficult to describe in linear, Newtonian terms. And yet, something does happen. All you have to do is be a representative just once to know that you’ve stepped into something quite wonderful and profound. The thing to remember is that this is all done out of love. As children, we take on these emotional burdens in an effort to make it better for those that came before us. All our young minds comprehend is that there is pain. So we grab ahold of it and make it our own. Family Constellations offer a very useful component in the healing process. They provide different and valuable perspectives. They heal across generations. They are a gift of love. There are monthly Family Constellation Evenings held in Seattle. The next dates are: March 7, March 28, April 17. They last from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
