About Family Constellations Children seldom or never dare to live a happier or more fulfilling life than their parents. Unconsciously they remain loyal to unspoken family traditions that work invisibly. Family Constellations are a way of discovering underlying family bonds and forces that have been carried unconsciously over several generations. —Bertold Ulsamer Sometimes we make unconscious attempts to stay connected to our family by suffering as those who came before us did. For example, when there has been a painful event in one generation (stillbirth, illness, murder, someone being cast out of the family, etc.), someone in a later generation may attempt to carry its weight by taking on the suffering of a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt or uncle. Illnesses, depression, anxiety, recurrent fears, addictions, aloneness and failed relationships can all be forms of this unspoken family loyalty. Family Constellations are one way to discover, explore and then re-solve the emotional and energetic family entanglements unconsciously affecting our lives. Monthly family constellation evenings are held in Seattle. These three hour evenings give participants the opportunity to have their family constellation done, to participate in others’ constellations, or simply to bear witness. What to expect: Volunteers from the group will represent family members for the client. Participants work within the client’s “field of the Family Soul” by feeling the energy that comes through as they represent. The information that the participants convey helps point to where re-solution within the family system can take place. The facilitators, using simple movement and language, guide the partipants to unblock and get energy flowing again within the family system, so healing can take place, both for the individual and the family.
